UPDATE 5/1/14
Microsoft released a patch to correct this issue, today. Surprisingly they are going to patch the issue in Windows XP even though they are beyond extended support for the operating system. The patch will be installed via automatic updates if it is enabled on your system(s).
You may have heard in the media that a vulnerability has been discovered that can affect Windows Internet Explorer 6 through the current version 11. Microsoft is indicating that they are working to quickly release a patch to close this vulnerability. The attack could allow a hacker to execute code that would run as the current user. In plain speak that means that a small program could access your computer and function with the same access rights that you enjoy. That means that the attacker could view your documents, favorites, and most importantly your credentials. Until Microsoft has issued a fix Lotus Management Services recommends…
- Use another browser such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox
- If you must use Internet Explorer switch on Enhanced Protection Mode
- Set security level to “High”
- Disable ActiveX controls and ActiveX Scripting
